The top three sales killers within a trade business.

The top three sales killers within a trade business.

1. Lack of volume

It is simply impossible to run a successful business without a consistent stream of leads of coming in. To generate this stream of leads one must have systems and processes in which they are able to create a high volume of interest. Posting on Kijiji, being on Google Maps, and having a website is simply not enough anymore. There are over 10 other methods, mostly free ones, that businesses are unaware of that would be benefiting them directly. Doubling down on the already existent systems may help and is a good place to start, however it may be wise to create other sources of volume towards your business.

2. Insufficient tracking

We have seen some businesses spend TENS of thousands of dollars in generating volumes of leads, but have failed to implement the right tracking to ensure that they are getting the most return on their money. Smaller businesses may not spend that much money, but they definitely are spending valuable time on some lead generation techniques that are extremely inefficient without even knowing it. The lack of tracking of both types of businesses, small and big, result in extreme inefficiencies, wasted resources, massive opportunity cost, and sometimes a hit on their brand name. With the right tracking systems, this can be avoided.

3. Self fulfilling prophecies

"I don't want to come off as pushy." "This neighborhood is very stingy." "No ones buys my service unless clients get three other quotes." Are all beliefs and not facts. However, when one is going to present their offer to the client these beliefs will play out in their head so-much-so that they actually become a reality. If you have an idea or belief around sales that plays around in your head over and over, that belief would usually become a reality and one must do their absolute best to ensure that they replace these beliefs with ones that serve and not hurt them.
